Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Santiago Ricci (“Roi”) started, with only 20 years old, editing feature films and TV commercials for the best Argentinean directors. Three of the nearly 20 feature films that he edited, La Ciénaga and La Niña Santa by Lucrecia Martel and Un Oso Rojo by Adrian Caetano, are amongst the most internationally Awarded Films in Argentinean history.
He started directing commercials in 2010 and working internationally very soon after. His passion and hard work soon put him in the spot as one of the most interesting directors in Latin America taking him also to US, Europe, Africa, and even as far away as… Tuvalu. His commercial for LG shot there won many awards, including best campaign in 2014.
Being quite the energetic-spirited that he is, with a profound love for sports and adrenaline, it was only natural that he specialized in car commercials. Particularly the ones shot in extreme conditions and with a lot of action. That said he also finds very attractive, on the other side of the spectrum, fun and witty humor. And also with his background in the film industry, he loves to work in big cinematic storytelling ads getting him to work alongside Netflix’s most beloved creature The Demogorogon, and recently with Shakira for a Lays ad. At the moment he’s even coming back to his beloved film industry directing a feature film documentary.
Roi speaks fluent English and Spanish, and directed commercials for important brands such as Ford, Nissan, Mazda, VW, Renault, GM Chevrolet, Fiat, Kia, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Walmart just to name a few.
